Welcome 'username' to your new userspace!
First Step Internet offers a free 10 Megs of webspace with all connectivity
accounts. This may be used to store files (such as .jpeg files for ebay) or
set up a small personal webpage. This webspace has Extensions for Front Page 2000,
and these extensions will work with all current versions of Microsoft FrontPage.
With Front Page there are multiple ways of accessing the site, the easiest and
probably most functional is to go to "File" then "Open Web...".
For the address (or Open) you will want to type in 'http://users.[community].com/username'.
When you click okay it will ask for username and password (provide the same username and password
you use to connect to the Internet).
If you do not use Front Page for creating your home page, any FTP program
will work. Most programs will follow a generic model of asking for the hostname
(or server) along with the user name and password.
Different FTP programs can require different syntax. WS_FTP (a free download from
www.download.com
requires only: 'users.[community].com' along with the username and password
(and puts you automatically into your personal folder).
Netscape requires it to be entered as: 'ftp://users.[community].com//' and
Front Page requires: 'http://users.[community].com/'.
Almost all of the FTP programs allow for "drag and drop" files into the server window. The program would
then procced to upload the files into this webspace.
