The new setup involves a multi-paned interface which can be confusing.   If you are having a hard time navigating it, you can try using the text-based only interface.  This can be changed simply by checking the text-based only interface option just below where you type in your username/password to check your email.  This should be a lot more familiar to you and easier to take advantage of the new features.
